Admission to Hospital
The hospital will advise you of your admission time and fasting instructions after 4.30pm the day prior to your surgery.
As a general rule:
Morning Surgery: Nothing to eat or drink from midnight the night before your surgery.
Afternoon Surgery: Nothing to eat or drink from 7am on the day of your surgery.
You may take your usual medications (excluding diabetic or blood-thinning medications) at 6am with a sip of water. This will not affect your fasting time.
Please bring:
A list of all current medications
All relevant X-rays and scans
Discharge from Hospital
Depending on your procedure and initial recovery, you may be discharged on the same day or after an overnight or longer stay.
You must not drive for 24 hours following an anaesthetic, so please arrange for someone to take you home.
Upon discharge, you will be provided with:
A prescription for required medications.
A post-operative instruction sheet.
Arrangements for your post-operative consultation in the rooms.
